The Workhorse That's Also Up For The Getaway
From holding down the home front to taking on the road, Silverado is always up to the task. It’s the truck built to get you through the day. Sometimes it might be tailgating with friends. It might even be getting farther away by exploring the wild rugged terrain. Whether you’re out building bridges or going off-road on hunting trips, Silverado packs the work ethic that doesn’t ease up even when you’re out seeking adventure.
Exterior
A bold look
Silverado LS and LT are built with a front end that includes a chrome mesh grille and chrome bumper for a sleek, contemporary look. Silverado LTZ comes loaded with body-colored grille, bumper, door handles and mirror caps. Available 20" chrome-clad aluminum wheels can be added to define your truck’s exterior on LT and LTZ models.
Color choices
For 2013 Chevy has added new color choices, bringing Deep Ruby Metallic and Blue Topaz Metallic to the lineup to let you further transform your truck your way.
Custom Accessories
Silverado also comes with options that let you customize to the exterior. There are bedliners, foglamps, stationary toolboxes, tonneau covers and a wide range of other accessories that you can count on to customize your truck.
Interior
Comfort and convenience under one roof
You buy a truck for its capability, but you still like your creature comforts. And Silverado has plenty: low step-in height for easy access, dual-firmness foam for outstanding seat comfort, generous front-seat legroom and abundant storage are just some of its features. Some are standard, some are optional—all are part of the Silverado experience. Here’s what else Silverado offers:
Interior Colors
Color choices for LT and LTZ models include Ebony, Light Cashmere with Dark Cashmere color and Dark Titanium with Light Titanium color. Silverado LTZ with Ebony interior features a dramatic brushed metal accents.
Heated and cooled seats
The 2013 Silverado 1500 LTZ comes with available heated—and cooled—front seats for year-round comfort. The low step-in height allows for easy access for passengers. There is also generous front-seat legroom and dual-firmness foam allowing for exceptional seat comfort for both long and short hauls.
Interior Storage/Functionality
170 degree opening extended cab doors for easy loading, locking underseat storage, dual glove boxes, near-flat load floor in crew cabs, one-hand flip up rear bench seat make it easier to load Silverado for the task at hand.
Capability
Strength and power at its core
The Vortec 6.2L V8 engine comes with 403 horsepower and 417 lb.-ft. of torque. All that power is complemented by a solid payload capability: 1,937 lbs. for Crew Cab and 1,908 lbs. for Extended Cab models with the available MAX Trailering Pack. These trucks will also include GM segment-exclusive automatic locking rear differential providing added grip when you need it, whether it’s pulling a trailer for a weekend family trip or hauling materials in between worksites.
Pulls Its Weight, And Then Some
With the available MAX Trailering Pack, Extended Cab models can tow 10,700 lbs. and Crew Cab models can pull 10,600 lbs. The strong 9.5-inch rear axle with 3.73 axle ratio and disc brakes are there to help you handle the larger loads.
Towing and Hauling
Tow/Haul Mode enhances performance while pulling a trailer or hauling heavy loads. When activated, this feature modifies the automatic transmission shift schedule and helps reduce throttle pedal activity by the driver while traveling over rolling terrain. Useful for when you’re hauling heavy loads, Trailer Sway Control senses when a trailer starts to sway and automatically applies the truck’s brakes while reducing engine power. When necessary, this feature works to help get your truck back on track.
Frame Technology
A hydroformed fully boxed front frame section allows for fewer welds and provides immense overall strength and durability. The rear frame is also fully boxed back to the spare tire crossmember, where it becomes C-channel. This ingenious, strong design boosts payload capacity without adding unnecessary mass.
Powerful and Fuel Efficient
The available Vortec 5.3L V8 offers an impressive combination of 315 horsepower and 335 lb.-ft. of torque and 14.3L/100km city, 9.4L/100km highway when running on gasoline—fuel economy no competitive V8 full-size 4x4 pickup can beat.
E85-Capable
Every Silverado 1500 non-hybrid V8 engine can operate on E85.
- E85 – a blend of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline
- Mostly renewable fuel
- Can help reduce our dependence on petroleum and reduce tailpipe emissions.
Safety
A stronghold in safety
There are three stages of safety, and Silverado takes every one of them as seriously as you do.
Before
StabiliTrak® Electronic Stability Control System helps you keep on the road and in control. The control module compares your steering input with the vehicle’s actual response and then, if necessary, makes small, individual applications to help keep you on track. In 2012, StabiliTrak includes Hill Start Assist and Trailer Sway Control — even more assurance (not available on Silverado Hybrid). A Tire Pressure Monitor keeps a constant watch on the inflation level of the vehicle's four road tires.
During
Six air bags are standard in Silverado 1500: driver and right-frontal passenger dual-stage frontal air bags; head-curtain side-impact air bags for the front and rear outboard seating positions; and front-seat mounted air bags for thorax and pelvic protection. You’re also surrounded by a high-strength steel safety cage and strategically placed crush zones to help absorb and channel crash energy in case of a collision.
After
OnStar® with Built-In Automatic Crash Response is standard for the first six months on most models. In a collision, vehicle sensors can alert an OnStar Advisor who is immediately connected into your vehicle and can request emergency help be sent to your exact GPS location, even if you can’t respond. Learn more about OnStar.
